Disney has signed Francis Lawrence (“Constantine”) to helm fantasy-adventure “Snow and the Seven,” with Scott Rudin and Andrew Gunn producing.
The live-action project inspired by the “Snow White” fairy tale is focused on a British girl raised in 19th century Hong Kong who realizes her destiny is to conquer an evil force. She then prepares to fight by training with seven Shaolin monks.
Project was first penned by Josh Harmon and Scott Elder, while Scott Moore and Jon Lucas wrote the latest draft.
Disney said “Snow and the Seven” is a working title and will change. It’s planning to start shooting next year, probably in China.
Yuen Woon-ping is the fight choreographer. Anthony Wong and Dede Nickerson are exec producing.
Lawrence broke into the business directing musicvideos and made his feature debut with “Constantine.” He’s in post-production on “I Am Legend,” starring Will Smith.

そうそう、調べてて見つけたんだけどThe Hollywood Reporterの2004年10月の記事によると元々このプロットって”Michael Chabon“が書いてたんだね。
今となっては、名前すら上がってないけど(件の記事はこちら)。
【追加】結局、多分これがお蔵入りしてクリス・ヘムズワースが出たSnow Whiteが出来たのだと推察される。自分で戦いに行く女性という部分だけが残って、少林寺のカンフーから騎士物語に変わってしまったのね。結構大胆な解釈で、オモシロイと思ったんだけどね。1900年の香港とかいう設定も、ありそうな感じで。（2024.02.17 Noise）
